Is story coach another name for writing coach?

Not entirely, though there is crossover at times. A writing coach offers career help. They will help you set a schedule, organize your project, and build the outline and structure of your book. A writing coach may offer some basic editing services, primarily developmental but perhaps also structural and editorial. They may help you write a pitch or the copy for your marketing. your identity.

So what is a story coach?

A story coach comes in long before, or maybe during your writing period.
As a story coach I can help you take your story from that initial spark of an idea you might get to a fully-fledged story ready to be written.

How will a story coach benefit me?

If you’re stuck and can’t figure out where your story should go, or how to bridge the middle, or even how to end it, I can be the sounding board you bounce ideas off as your work through them. I will offer questions and, if you want, opinions, but the decisions will always be yours. The voice will always be yours.
Have a character who is stubbornly refusing to talk to you? I have ways of making them talk…hehehe.
Have a setting you can’t quite see well enough to describe? I can help you walk through it and see it in your minds eye.
You get the idea. I’m not here to teach you how to write, or help you develop your skill as a writer. I’m here to help you develop your story into a book you can share or sell. I’m here to help you flesh out plots, subplots, settings, and characters so you can finish telling your story.
Are you writing a memoir? I can help you decide what to focus on, make decisions on how to illustrate the difficult moments, and how to find the reason you want to write it.

What is a writing coach then?

A Writing Coach may also help you organize your life, so you learn to make time for your writing and help you see your writing as a valuable part of who you are. They may offer editing advice, or actual editing of your manuscript.
